Mr. Yadong WANG is a Senior Partner at Zhonglun W&D Law Firm. In 1992, he joined Jun He LLP and served as a partner for ten years, and later, as one of the core members, co‑founded two boutique law firms focusing on cross‑border matters, including Run Ming Law Office. In 2016, Mr. Wang, together with key members of his team, joined Rui Bai Law Firm — a member firm of the PwC global network — as a partner and director. In 2020, he joined Shanghai Lang Yue (Beijing) Law Firm, the joint operation office established in the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone between Lang Yue and the leading international law firm Allen & Overy, and served as Senior Counsel.


Mr. Wang has long focused on cross-border dispute resolution, intellectual property and corporate law, providing legal services to numerous multinational companies including various major Japanese enterprises, and has handled a large number of landmark cases of significant industry influence. Mr. Wang was recommended for seven consecutive years by Chambers & Partners in cross-border dispute resolution and intellectual property, was named one of the top 25 “Popular Lawyers” in China by ALB, and was shortlisted as one of five nominees for ALB’s “Managing Partner of the Year” award. Mr. Wang has also been recognised as one of the “Top Ten Counsels in Beijing” and named “Beijing Leading Lawyer”.

Experience Highlights:

Dispute Resolution:

  • Represented General Motors (GM), General Motors Overseas Company and GM Brazil in litigation over a product quality damages dispute, and an agreement was ultimately reached by the two sides.
  • Acted as lead counsel for Hitachi Limited (HITACHI) in a class action concerning camera quality issues, ultimately achieving a settlement between the parties.
  • Represented Johnson & Johnson (China) Co., Ltd. (JOHNSON & JOHNSON) in a dispute over product quality damages, and won the first and the second instances.
  • Acted as lead counsel for Nomura JAFCO Investment (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. in an investment dispute arising during an IPO process, and secured a settlement between the parties after several rounds of negotiations.
  • Acted as lead defence counsel for Mitsui & Co. (MITSUI) in corporate bribery proceedings, ultimately securing a not-guilty verdict for the client.
  • Represented Walmart (WALMART) in multiple commercial real estate leasing disputes.
  • Represented Beijing Qihu Technology Company Limited and Qizhi Software (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (“360”) and its chairman, Hongyi Zhou, in a number of litigations involving reputation infringement, contract disputes and other matters.
  • Represented a world-leading agricultural and construction machinery company in a product quality dispute.
  • Represented a prominent financial investment enterprise in multiple arbitration and litigation matters, ultimately securing full acceptance of the client’s claims.
  • Represented clients in numerous international and domestic arbitration cases.

Intellectual Property (all IP cases below represented by Mr. Wang received extensive media coverage):

  • Acted as one of the counsels representing Ms. Shuxian Li, the partner of the last Chinese emperor Aisin-Gioro Puyi, in the copyright dispute over Puyi’s biography FROM EMPEROR TO CITIZEN. This case is generally regarded as the most influential intellectual property case in China, ultimately obtaining a favourable judgment.
  • Represented General Motors Daewoo Automobile and Technology Company (GM DAEWOO) Co., Ltd. in a copyright infringement and unfair competition dispute against Chery Automobile Co., Ltd.. The case was named as one of the “Top Ten Influential Litigations in China” that year.
  • Acted as one of the counsels for Ericsson (China) Co., Ltd. (ERICSSON) in two patent infringements, which concluded with a favourable outcome for Ericsson and were named “Deal of the Year” by China Business Law Journal.
  • Successfully represented Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (YAMAHA) in the trademark infringement case, delivering a complete victory and earning the recognition of a well-known trademark for Yamaha. The Supreme People’s Court of China published it in the Gazette of the Supreme People’s Court as a typical case.
  • Acted for Walmart Stores in trademark infringement and unfair competition proceedings, securing a win for the client and well‑known trademark recognition for “Wal‑Mart”. The case was named one of the “Top Ten Well‑known Trademark Recognition Cases in China”.
  • Represented Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Chanel, Prada and Gucci — five well-known brand owners — to a successful outcome in a trademark infringement litigation against Beijing’s Silk Street Market. The matter topped the “Top Ten Intellectual Property Cases in 2006” list published by the Beijing High People’s Court. (Mr. Wang was the lead litigation counsel jointly appointed by the five brand owners.)
  • Represented Johnson & Johnson’s subsidiary, Beijing Dabao Cosmetics Co., Ltd., in three IP cases involving unfair competition and trademark infringement, one of which cases was ranked first among the “50 Typical Intellectual Property Cases in 2013” released by the Chinese courts.
  • Acted for well-known domestic artist Han LU in three IP infringement disputes with S.M. Entertainment from Korea, which concluded in a settlement.
  • Served for many years as legal counsel to the Beijing Music Festival Arts Foundation, providing comprehensive legal services to the Beijing Music Festival.
  • Provided ongoing legal services to well-known singer Tan Weiwei and her agency.

Capital Markets:

  • Acted as issuer’s counsel and partner‑in‑charge for Shanghai Electric Power Co., Ltd. on both its PRC and HK IPOs.
  • Acted as issuer’s counsel and partner‑in‑charge for CNOOC in the PRC IPOs of two of its subsidiaries.
  • Advised China Insurance International Holdings Limited, as issuer’s counsel and partner‑in‑charge, on its HK IPO.
  • Represented China Centre for Information Industry Development (CCID) as issuer’s counsel and partner-in-charge, on its HK IPO on the Growth Enterprise Market (the first successful overseas IPO of a Chinese consulting company).
  • Acted for Yanion International Holdings, a Hong Kong‑listed company, in its offshore indirect acquisition of V1 Group Limited, serving as counsel to the acquired party and principal attorney.
