Professor Zhao Jinsong is a recipient of Shanghai Thousand Talents Program, a National Leading Talent of Shenzhen, and an Outstanding Talent of Hainan Province. He serves as the Chief Expert of the National Social Science Fund Key ProjectResearch on Improving China’s Maritime Legal System, Chief Legal Counsel ofHong Kong LegalPaperOffice, an arbitrator and an independent director for several institutions at home and abroad. With 30 years of work experience in law firms across London, Hong Kong and mainland China, his core practice areas cover admiralty and maritime law, ship sale and purchase, shipbuilding, shipping financing, international trade and international finance, ect.

Professor Zhao previously held academic positions including Professor of International Law at KoGuan Law School, Dean and Professor of the School of International Shipping Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, Member of the Belt and Road Research Group, Faculty of Law, University of Oxford; Member of the China Centre, University College London; Visiting Professor at the Marine and Maritime Law Unit, University of Queensland.

In commercial practice, Professor Zhao worked as a deck-officer on board of an ocean-going cargo ship, and served as General Manager of a shipyard. He has held directorial roles including Independent Director of China Merchants Ro-Ro Transport (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., Independent Director of COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation Co., Ltd., External Director of COSCO Shipping (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.\
